This is the first chapter of a fantasy debut novel set in a medieval fictional valley in Transylvania. The magic system is particular, working through weaving one’s soul or memories into objects. The chapter explores the annointing of the local matriarch and primary magic user after the passing away of her mother. It explores her and her daughters grief.
