Author Notes:

So, this is an early chapter (perhaps the first) in one of the two major storylines of a larger project I’m working on. Its purpose is to mainly engage the reader’s curiosity, but also introduce the characters, their relationship and the world they live in.

All criticism is welcome and very much apricated, but some of the key points I’m interested in are:

1) How does it read? Does it pull you along, or is it tedious? Is a sense of mystery created, or are you left feeling vague? Is there sufficient tension? Do you want to know what happens next?

2) Is the relationship between the main characters believable or compelling? How do you feel towards them? Do you understand their motivations? Do you care what happens to them?

3) Do you believe the world and the scenario described? Is the world recognisable?

Notes to organisers:

I’ll be away on vacation from June 7-24 and then again from July 26 – August 9th; if you can work me into an in-person session between, or after, those dates I’d really appreciate it. The in-person sessions are much more productive for me, so I would be willing to wait for an open session, as opposed to doing an on-line session sooner. Finally, thanks!
