This is a flash fiction piece (max 1000 words) and was written for Apex Magazine’s November Flash Fiction Contest on the theme of “Cat Got Your Tongue”. It was unsuccessful, so I would love feedback on what we think could have made this stronger.

I would love people’s thoughts on what they think would make this stronger as a flash fiction piece–staying within the 1000 word limit–rather than how it could be developed into a longer piece.
