Author Notes:

Hi all, this story was written for a contest last year with the brief of being a mash-up of two genres. I was assigned the genres Isekai (which is your portal/otherworld fiction, like Chronicles of Narnia or Spirited Away) and Crime (murders and stuff), which is why this comes off as a particularly weird one.

I think there’s something good in there, but it still needs some work and refining, so interested to hear thoughts, but a few pointers of what I’d like to know:

– Do you think the juxtaposition between the dark crime angle and the colourful/jolly Queendom work?
– Does the humour and voice work?
– Does the emotional pay-off work at the end?
– Does the Dog section make sense/work? You’ll understand why I ask when I get there.

Thanks!

Notes to organisers:

I’m signed up to the 18th Jan in-person critique if there’s a story needed there, otherwise I can do online or in-person.
